Greek Smokers in Glass Cages
According to recent rumous, smokers in the Greek Islands are going to be enclosed not in gilded cages but in glass ones. In this way, they are going to be completely isolated from anyone who can't bear a breath of smoke. Bars, restaurants, clubs, coffee shops are all considering this option to provide smoking spaces for their avid fans of tobacco.
Great Savings on Villa Rentals
Vintage Travel, specialising exclusively, in houses with private pools in areas of local tradition and culture on the Greek Islands, is highlighting some fantastic June savings - with reductions of more than 50% - on selected villas on Skopelos, Kefalonia and Corfu. For example, save £420 on a week's rental of Nena - a two bedroom (both with air-con) cottage sleeping four situated just outside of Skopelos Town on the island of Skopelos. For the week commencing 5 June, the revised rental is £375 per party. Or, the week starting 19 June is now reduced to £495 (saving £400).
Greek Islands Bookings Surge
Leading online UK travel agent On the Beach has witnessed a surge of late bookings to the Greek Islands this summer, with bookings up 18% year on year. Despite recent reports suggesting non Euro destinations will lead the way this summer, the Greek Islands are proving particularly popular amongst cost conscious holidaymakers, with hotels and airlines slashing prices to lure Brits to the sun kissed isles.
Highs and Lows of Car Hire
A recent survey highlights the best and worst of hiring a car in the Greek Islands. The survey was undertaken by Eurotest, who investigated the quality of car hire in the Mediterranean region. A number of companies were trialled for both their cars and level of customer service, across the likes of Greece, Italy and Turkey.

Greek Heritage Beer Coming to the UK
The well known brewers Adnams, of Suffolk, have announced partnering with the Greek premium lager Mythos. The Mythos brand is one of the top three brands in Greece and the top selling traditional heritage beer. Both breweries work hard on environmental issues and also are based on the coast of each country, offering premium beers into the traditional ale market.

According to Homes Overseas, property in Greece and the Greek Islands is the fourth most searched for location for overseas property, gaining two places compared with the previous month. The figures, just released, are based on country and property page views on the homesoverseas site during the last month.

Funds for small businesses - The Greek government has announced a plan to support and help small businesses who are affected by the economic crisis. Amounting to 1.3 billion euros, the funds will subsidise small businesses in the areas of manufacturing, tourism and commerce. The government is concerned that the economy may slip into recession despite years of growth.
Smoking Ban in Greece This Summer
With Greeks considered some of the most ardent smokers in Europe, it is hard to imagine the smoking ban being implemented. The ban was originally planned to come into force in 2010 but has been brought forward a year to be effective from 1 July this year.
