Population of Greece Facts

The population of Greece is estimated at slightly over 10.5 million from census undertaken in July 2011. The previous few years have seen the country’s population fall, but the newest estimated figure shows an average of 49.2% men and 50.8% women.
Greece also rates relatively high up in study polls with the longest life expectancy and has a good position of 78th place when ranked out of 240 other countries.
The average age for the population of Greece is 78 years and when rated individually, a Greek man`s life expectancy is 76 years and a woman 81 years.

It is well known knowledge globally that the  combination of the Greek climate, healthy Mediterranean diet of  fresh fish, salads, vegetables and the country’s famous product of olive oil are all contributing factors  in helping towards the Greek`s longevity. In addition the majority of Greek`s enjoy life and still for some, parts of the country life has changed very little over the years. Apart from the cities most of the country still offers a laid back lifestyle and culture that helps attribute to the populations longevity.

Greek people enjoy life, and an important part of their daily lives is good food and drink shared with family and friends. Greeks often eat late and it is traditionally shared with family and friends where young and old are all included. The Greek culture enjoy family life and talking until late.
