The Colourful Coast of Kos

Kos is the perfect destination for a holiday or a new life, Kos has a tasteful mix of tradtional bars, night clubs, water sports and activities, gorgeous beaches and tranquility, which at the end of the day can be washed down with a glass of red wine and baked cheese, which is the local speciality.


Greece has many places for you to see, from ancient ruins to golden beaches. These five places to visit in Greece, are suitable for everyone, as there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy. Greece is a wonderful place to explore for anyone of any age, there are plenty of beaches, museums, nature, cities and history to enjoy, so what else could you want? So read on to see why Corfu, Kefalonia, Mykonos, Lindos and Santorini make the perfect places to visit.

Melissani Cave, Kefalonia
If you happen to be on the island of Kefalonia, best known for being the film location for "Captain Corelli's Mandolin", then don't forget to visit the Melissani cave. The Melissani cave can be found in the town Sami, which is a beautiful town to stroll around, whilst you are there. Visiting the Melissani cave is a wonderful experience for all age groups. There is a small boat that takes you through the cave and you can see the perfectly clear and calm water underneath the boat.

Little Venice, Mykonos

You don't have to travel to Italy to enjoy the views of Venice, visit Mykonos and head to Little Venice in Mykonos, where you will find beautiful streets, apartments and spectacular scenery.But Little Venice is not the only place to see in Mykonos, as there are plenty of cosmopiltan cafe's and bars, trendy shops, bustling towns and beautiful beaches to see. Mykonos is considered to be a popular holiday destination with tourists from all over the world, as well as many celebrities and people in the fashion world.

Lindos

Lindos offers a choice of fascinating historical sites to see and enjoy, crystal blue sea, golden beaches and scenery to observe. If you like to relax on a sun soaked sandy beach, then you will be guarenteed to love Tsambika beach. Tsambika beach is famous for its golden sand and turqoise water, and is the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring the other places of interest.

Santorini is said to be a very romantic island, and that is why it is a popular destination for those on their honeymoons. Many couples also choose this particular island to get married. But even if your not a newly-wed, it doesn't mean that you can't enjoy what Santorini has to offer. The houses, apartments and other buildings on the island are a wonder on their own, with their beautiful white and blue exterior. The west coast of Santorini is favoured by many celebrities and is very exclusive and so prices can be expensive, but the east coast still offers good value for money and is great if you are on a tighter budget.

Corfu

Last in the list is Corfu, the island that has the best climate in Greece. Corfu is considered to be a brilliant family destination, as well as having many cheap hotels and disco's for those you enjoy the night life. Despite being developed for the tourist industry, Corfu still possesses much of its traditional features and characteristics. Sissi's palace is an ideal place to visit, the palace is located in Archilleaon and is surrounded by spectacular scenery.

Beaches

The island of Kos, which has about 22, 000 residents, has many fantastic beaches to relax on. Just 3km north of Kos town, is the popular beach of Lambi. Lambi beach is very popular, as it is situated close to the town of Kos and is a tourist magnet.

Tigaki beach can be found 11km west of Kos town. This is a much loved beach with the locals and tourists and is ideal for anyone with children, as the crystal clear water is very shallow.

Located 30km south west of Kos town lies the beach of Kardamena. Kardamena beach is very well known and is the most popular and busiest beach in Kos. During the summer months, many tourist facilities are available, such as the hire of sun beds and umbrellas as well as watersports and other activities.

Thermes beach is covered in small black pebbles. The water is hot and the beach is less popular and more secluded than others. Thermes beach is situated 12 km south of Kos town.

Nightlife

Depending on what you want of a night out, you are sure to find what you're looking for here. Kos is packed full of traditional taverns and restaurants, modern restaurants serving international food, quiet bars and plenty of night clubs. In Kos town, you may come across what many refer to as the 'bar mile', which is two well known streets full of bars. Kos has the name of being a "party island" and offers enough entertainment to give any party animal a run for their money.
